OBITUARY FROM:    HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC  --- Ozark, AL 36360   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mr. J. Robert Whitman passed away April 17, 2014.  He will be interred in Elkins, West Virginia at a later date with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing local arrangements.  He was 98 years old.  Mr. Whitman was born April 15, 1916 in Monaville, Logan County, West Virginia to the late Harriet Swentzel Whitman and W. Grady Whitman.  He was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College and taught school in Anne Arundel County, Maryland for many years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of The Sons of The American Revolution, The Mayflower Society, and The Annapolis, Maryland Power Squadron.  Mr. Whitman was a member of Ozark Presbyterian Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Hutchison Whitman; his son, Michael H. Whitman; two brothers, Woodford Grady Whitman, Jr. and John Evan Whitman.  Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Cheryle Whitman of Ozark, William G. and Sherry Smith Whitman of Williamson, New York;  one sister-in-law, Louise Whitman of Silver Lake, Ohio.  Five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.  For complete information visit www.HolmanFuneralHome.com
