Mr. James Clayton “Jim” Davis, 82, of Georgetown, Georgia, died Thursday morning, August 31, 2017, at his home.


A private memorial service will be held for Mr. Davis at a later date.  Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com 


Mr. Davis was born March 1, 1935 in Henry County, Alabama to the late Robert Wendall “Pete” Davis and Clara Bell Money Davis. He was raised in the Freewill Baptist Faith.  Mr. Davis served in the United States Air Force and later as an air traffic controller.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music and playing the guitar.  Mr. Davis loved horses and rode in the rodeo.   


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Gross, Rosalee Bagwell and Clara Parkinson; and one brother, Robert W.  “Bob” Davis.


Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jean Adams Davis of Georgetown, Georgia; one son and daughter-in-law, Wendall and Patricia Davis of Madera, California; one step-son, Anthony Spann of Enterprise, Alabama; two step-daughters, Pam and Allen Lipscomb of Headland, Alabama, Sherry and Jonathan Miller of Headland, Alabama; three sisters, Johnnie Wynn of Georgetown, Georgia, Karolyn Wiggins of Echo, Alabama, and Martha Nell Dentley of Fresno, California; eight grandchildren, Aaron Herring of Medera, California, Morgan Davis of Maricopa, California, Alex Arnold of Blackwoods, Alabama, Chelsey Arnold of Echo, Alabama, Justin Spann of Munsford, Tennessee, Dalton Spann of Headland, Alabama, Steven Miller of Headland, Alabama, Katherine Miller of Headland, Alabama; one great grandchild, Wyatt Arnold of Blackwoods, Alabama; and his special friend, Murphy Phipps.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Kindred Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, Georgia 31904.
