Mr. James Esker “Dick” Richardson of Ariton died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be 3:30 P. M. Sunday, August 9, 2015, from Ariton Baptist Church with Reverend David Walsh officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  Entombment will be held at a later date in Ariton Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 2:00 P. M. until service time.


Mr. Richardson was born July 27, 1918 in Ariton, Alabama to the late Charlie Oscar Richardson and Emma Clifford Trawick Richardson. He served in the United States Army during World War II.  Following his military service, Mr. Richardson worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker with The Department of Engineers and Housing for twenty years until his retirement.  He was a well-known carpenter and was engaged in farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Richardson; six brothers, Dean Richardson, Matt Richardson, Lewis “Bish” Richardson, Travis Richardson, Jim Richardson, and Junior Richardson.


Survivors include his wife, Burnell Hall Richardson of Ariton; one daughter, Dr. Brenda Richardson of Memphis, Tennessee; two sons, Jeff Richardson and Keith Richardson of Ariton; one sister, Mavis R. Jenkins of Dothan.
