OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Chief Petty Officer Louie Rex Morris (United States Navy Retired), 84, of Ozark, died Sunday, August 25, 2013, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Larry Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 P. M. until service time. Mr. Morris was born April 2, 1929 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Thad Orlando Morris and Mattie Lovie Baxley Morris. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service he worked with Sony Corporation until his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for over forty years where he served as a Lay Speaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Brooks Morris; seven sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Sue Morris of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Sue and Rick Bleecker, Monica and Vince Punteney; three grandchildren, Lori (Jeff) Olsen, Zach Bleecker, and Brittany Morris; two great grandchildren, Maile Olsen and Sophia Olsen all of the Tacoma, Washington area; one step-daughter, Donna Lewis of Bellevue, Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Mack L. and Ann Morris of Pace, Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Christian Mission, 481 Geneva Hwy, Enterprise, Alabama 36330; to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2926 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rockbridge Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
