Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark


Mr. Michael William Lahti, age 56, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He resided at 348 Blake Drive in Ozark, AL.


A memorial service for Mr. Lahti will be held at 3:00 P. M. Saturday, November 1, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark (334) 774-5348. 


Mr. Lahti was born May 15, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina and resided in Michigan, Illinois, Panama, Mexico, Switzerland, Missouri, Texas, North Carolina, Colorado and Alabama.  He attended high school in Pekin, IL and International School in Geneva, Switzerland. He attended college at Kemper Academy in Booneville, MO and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1987-1993; including Desert Storm in Iraq.   His passion was carpentry and he was admired for his craftsmanship.  He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, parachuting, repelling, fishing and other challenging sports.  He deeply loved his family and will be missed by all of them.


Survivors are his wife, Barbara Tucker of Ozark; a daughter and son-in-law, Krystal R. and Jacob McKinnell of Colorado Springs, Co; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and  Sara Roddy of Houston, TX;  his mother and step-father, Betty and Larry Willett of Galesburg, IL; his father and step-mother, Don and Vicki Lahti of Fairfield Glade, TN;  four grandchildren, Patric and Alora Roddy and Konnor and Lovi-Essa McKinnell;  his siblings, Bill (Laura) Wohlfarth and Katherine Rose (Ryan) Gildehaus.  Several nephews and nieces also survive.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Deborah Soliz.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a Veterans charity of your choice.
