Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL
Mr. Richard Arthur Davenport died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, June 16, 2016, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Al Sonanstine and Reverend Merrill Henry officiating. Interment will be in Camp Ground Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M.
He was born Richard Arthur Davenport in McAlester, OK on December 29, 1951, also known as Rick or Tiny. Rick married his wife, Elaine, on July 2, 1987. Rick served in the United States Navy, and was a Viet Nam Veteran. He was in the Navy for ten years aboard the USS Constellation and the USS Yosemite. He spent the first twenty years of his career as a printer and then in the mortgage business, retiring in 2009. Rick was baptized in May 2014 and became a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church in Ozark where he was active in the Faith Riders Ministry. Rick was co-founder of the Lightning Riders Motorcycle Group in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. He led the group on rides and sponsored Christmas in July to raise money and toys for All Children’s Hospital. Rick also served as a service officer for the Disabled American Veterans assisting veterans. Rick is preceded in death by his father, J. D. Davenport and his mother, Marie Davenport.
Surviving family includes his wife, Elaine Katherine Hankins Davenport; three brothers, Dale and wife, P.J., Larry and Jeff Davenport; step-son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Lisa Bellovin; three grandchildren, Tara, Matthew and Nicole.
