Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL
Mr. Sonny Raley, 79, of Ozark, died Thursday, November 24, 2016, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, November 28, 2016, from the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Mike Sigler, Reverend Meghan Kelley, and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday afternoon from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M.
Mr. Raley was born June 5, 1937 in Webb, Alabama to the late Theo Raley and Wilma Ethel Parker Raley. For thirty-six years he was a coach, educator, and administrator. Throughout his thirty-six years of service, he had a great impact on many young lives. He worked for many years as a referee for all sports especially basketball. He coordinated the Ozark Leisure Service softball program. In 2015 he had the honor of being inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Raley was a devoted Christian and spent his life serving the Lord. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark where he served in many capacities, and was also a member of the Gideons.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann White Raley of Ozark; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kevin and Susan Raley, and Kip Raley all of Daphne, Alabama; his niece, Ila Dermanoski (Andy) of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kelly Raley, Benjamin Raley, Kerri Raley, Casey Raley, Reagan Raley, Cole Dermanoski and Jackson Dermanoski; one great grandchild, Ryleigh Reyes; two sisters, Patricia Cutchens of Columbus, Georgia and Shirley Adkins of Dothan; one brother and sister-in-law, George “Booky” and Kim Raley of Perry, Georgia.
