Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mr. Thomas Ray “Tommy” Cotten, 79, formerly of Ozark, died Sunday, November 26, 2017, at his home in Kinston. 


Funeral services will be 1:30 P. M. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with his nephew, Reverend Les Lee, and Chaplain Bryan Simoneaux of First Choice Hospice officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery near Troy, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 12:30 P. M. until service time.


Mr. Cotten was born September 1, 1938 in the Post Oak Community of Dale County, Alabama to the late Mack Ray Cotten and Mattie Ruth Cotton Cotten. His family moved to Enterprise where he graduated from high school and worked at the Dairy Dream along with his family.  He moved back to Ozark where he worked with Walter Hand Ford.  He later went into business with John Gilland with their first car dealership in Ozark and with the Ozark Roller Bowl which later became Bangos. Mr. Cotten and his wife moved to Panama City, Florida where they owned and operated Tommy’s Cars and the Treasure Cove Motel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Denise Cotten Grantham; one daughter-in-law, Chrissy Cotten; one sister, Opal Stinson; and one brother, John Douglas Cotten.


Survivors include one daughter, Christy Claudia and Steve Randolph of Orlando, Florida; one son, Tom Cotten of California; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathryn Goodson of Panama City, Linda and Paul Bowden of Kinston; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Elizabeth Cotten of Ozark, Milton “Jim” and Katie Cotten of Dothan, Joe and Diana Cotten of Spring Hill, Alabama; six grandchildren, Maleah Grantham, Tyler Grantham, Mick Cotten, Annabelle, Steven, and Edison; one great grandchild, Farrah. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
