Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL
Mrs. Christine Hood Grant, a life-long resident of Ozark, died Monday, December 19, 2016, in Phenix City, Alabama. She was 93 years old.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, December 23, 2016, from St. Paul AME Church in Ozark with Reverend Freddie Flowers officiating. Interment will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Friends and relatives may visit Mrs. Grant at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.
Mrs. Grant was born March 26, 1923 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Willie Hood and Robbie Welch Hood. She worked with Oakview Manor Nursing Home for twenty-six years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, George T. Thompson; one son-in-law, Willie Smith.
Survivors include nine children, Gayle (Rickey) Hawkins of Columbus, GA, Bobbie Ann Smith of New York, Angless Thompson, Beth (Tom) Hillis of Dallas, TX, Johnny Lee of Ozark, Tommy Grant of New York, Carolyn (George) Jolly of Columbus, Ga, Woodie Grant of Ozark, James Grant of California; a daughter-in-law, Geneva Thompson of Newark, NJ. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Paul AME Church, 774 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
