Mrs. Frances Powers Wambles, 91, of Ozark, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Barbara Wambles, following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wambles will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Benjamin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 Noon Saturday until service time.
Mrs. Wambles was born March 24, 1925 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Loyce Alonzo Powers and Lillie Alba Woodham Powers. She was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church, the Women’s Missionary Union, the Ester Sunday School Class, Adult Discipleship Training, and was the senior choir director. She had a life-long love of gospel music and singing in gospel groups throughout the southeast. Mrs. Wambles worked with Dr. Robert Crosby in Ozark and with Sony in Dothan for ten years until her retirement in 1988. Following her retirement, she worked with the Senior Nutrition Center in Daleville and Ozark.
Survivors include two sons, Buren Garnett Wambles of Dothan and Tommy Lynn Wambles of Ozark; a special daughter-in-law, Barbara and granddaughters, Terri and Kristi; one sister, Louise Withrow of Ozark. Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses of Gentiva Hospice for their loving care.
