Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 Mrs. Frances Stuckey Rhodes, 88, of Skipperville, died Tuesday evening, September 20, 2016, at her home in Bertha.


Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 23, 2016, from New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Jud Waldrop officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.


Frances was born November 27, 1927 in Dale County, Alabama, the daughter of Hollie Vaden Stuckey and Foy Phillips Stuckey. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Frances and Joe (deceased), her husband of 70 years, raised their family in Florida where she was a licensed master cosmetologist. She owned and operated a hair salon in the King Hotel in Stuart, Florida and managed salons in Jacksonville, Florida. She also taught cosmetology during her career. Frances and Joe enjoyed traveling and attending gospel sings across the southeastern United States.


Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Fran Rhodes, Frank and Marilyn Rhodes; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


In lieu  of flowers, the family  requests that donations be made in Frances’ memory to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4239 County Road 69, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
