Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mrs. Jeanette Hornsby Landers, 93, of Ozark, died Saturday, October 14, 2017.


Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark.  Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tallassee, Alabama, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M.


Mrs. Landers was born May 19, 1924 in Elmore County, Alabama to the late Jasper and Irene Hoyle Hornsby. She grew up in Tallassee, Alabama and attended Tallassee High School. She moved to Ozark in 1962 and worked as a receptionist in the office of Dr. Robert McLaughlin and as a bookkeeper with the Aviation College in Ozark for fourteen years.  She was a member of Ozark Baptist Church, and a member of the Arguta Extension Club.  She loved to travel in the United States and abroad.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sandi Landers; and four brothers, Ben Hornsby, Harold Hornsby, Joseph Hornsby, and Wayne Hornsby.


Survivors include her husband, H. Austin Landers of Ozark, Alabama; one daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Michael Mathis of Northport, Alabama;


one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Landers of Covington, Georgia; four grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Russo of Acworth, Georgia, Donne (Rachele) Landers of Wetumpka, Alabama, Kristen Mathis of Portland, Oregon, Zachary Parkerson of McDonough, Georia; four great grandchildren, Kelsey Landers of Hattisburg, Mississippi, Turner Landers of Wetumpka, Alabama Davis Landers of Wetumpka, Alabama, and Ethan Russo of Acworth, Georgia.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
