Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Lisenby McNew, 75, of Ozark, died Thursday, November 6, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, November 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark with Reverend Harry M. Circle officiating. The Kolb Chapter 468 Order of The Eastern Star will conduct the Eastern Star ceremony. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M.
Mrs. McNew was born November 10, 1938 in Ozark, Alabama to the late John Brainard Lisenby and Elmira Pauline Brown Lisenby. She and her late husband owned and operated Claybank Produce in Ozark for thirty years. She also owned and operated Jo’s Beauty Shop at her home for over twenty years. Mrs. McNew was a member of the Kolb Chapter 468 Order of The Eastern Star and the Shriners Daughters of The Nile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 1/2 years, Howard Nelson McNew; one sister, Chris Freeman; and one brother, Donald E. Lisenby.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Carol and Lee Harrell, Sharon Gale Horn all of Cherokee, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Bryan White, Robert White (Maria), Charles Schaaf, Larissa Aday (Corey), Mychal Horn, Lindsey Cole (Tommy), and Nicholas Harrell; three great grandchildren, Carlie Aday, Mikie Horn, and Jordyn Harrell; four sisters, Phyllis Deal of Cowarts, Geri Taylor of Ozark, Tommie Bailey of Leesburg, GA, and Theresa Wournell of Ozark.
