OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Mrs. Lillian Louise Hall Barefield passed to her Heavenly home on Monday January 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:30 AM at Post Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Horton officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Post Oak Baptist Church Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Mrs. Barefield was born in Coffee County, AL to Wade and Frances Hall on December 31, 1926. She moved to Clio when she was nine and to Ariton when she was fourteen, graduating from Ariton High School in 1946. Her first job was a clerk in Covington’s 5 and 10 in Clio and her last was working in the Business Office of Dale County Hospital. On March 2, 1952 she married SSG Ray Barefield, whom she swore to her mother was the last man on earth she would marry (her father said that he was not surprised). She experienced some of the utmost challenges of the greatest generation; the Great Depression, WWII, and the Korean War. Taught by her parents, she learned the value of faith, commitment and work while never forgetting the embracing love of family. She was at her best when caring for others and helping others feel the love of Christ and family that she had. Her smile could resolve any problem and her Chocolate Sheath Cake, Pound Cake and other culinary delights lifted many spirits. She was committed to her Lord Jesus Christ, her husband Ray, and her family and was loved for her spiritual gifts of service, generosity, and friendship. Family includes two sons and daughters-in-law; Michael and Jan Barefield of Madison and Mark and Diane Barefield of Huntsville; five grandchildren; Rebekah, Bethany (deceased), Ryan, Patrick and Shannon; one great grandson, Ethan; two sisters, Burnell Richardson of Ariton and Eloise Cooper of Ozark; and one brother, Charles Hall of Troy (deceased). Several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Mrs. Lillian’s memory to The Bethany June Barefield Endowment Memorial Fund (1614000) at The Baptist Foundation of Alabama, P. O. Box 241227, Montgomery, AL 36124. Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com
