Mrs. Mary Ruth Thweatt Clark, 104, died Wednesday evening, August 2, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from Bethel Baptist Church in Newton with Reverend Mike Griggs and her nephew, Reverend Dr. Greg Clark, officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 1:00 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Clark was born August 3, 1912 in Houston County, Alabama to the late James Edward Thweatt and Thelma Pilcher Thweatt. She moved to Dale County at an early age and lived there until her death. She had been a member of Bethel Baptist Church since 1927 where she was active in the work of the church and taught Sunday school for forty-five years. She attended Baptist Collegiate Institute in Newton. Mrs. Clark worked with Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland for nineteen years and with Wesley Manor in Dothan as a Food Service Supervisor for four years until her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Clark, Sr.; sisters and brothers, Ray Thweatt, Ruby Nell Hall, Kermit Thweatt, Sam Thweatt, Charles Thweatt, and sisters-in-law Lorraine Thweatt and Betty Thweatt.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Chellie Clark of Ozark and Margaret Clark of Newton; one son, James Ralph Clark, Jr. of Newton; grandchildren, Donnie Brogden, Debbie (Bill) Kuhn, Robert (Pam) Brogden, Daryl (Deede) Brogden, Jennifer Clark Chapman, Stanley Clark, George Clark; and twelve great-grandchildren.
