OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Mrs. Mattie Earl Leatherwood Bruner, 97, of Ozark, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the home of her daughter. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015, from Stonebridge Church of God with her son, Reverend Byron Bruner, Reverend Ralph Flowers, Reverend Barry Clark, Reverend Sarah Tomlin, and Reverend Floyd Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from noon until service time. Mrs. Bruner was born March 4, 1918 in Pike County to the late Thomas Harrison Leatherwood and Sallie Irene Bludsworth Leatherwood. She and her late husband owned and operated Bruner’s Grocery in the Mabson Community for twenty-five years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Odell Bruner; one daughter, Joan Bruner; one son, Jerry Bruner; one sister, Verlon Leatherwood; and five brothers, Forrest Leatherwood, Donald Ray Leatherwood, Aubrey Leatherwood, Charles Leatherwood and Kenneth Leatherwood; two granddaughters, Bethany Clark and Rhonda Adkins; and one great grandson, Taylor Paul Bell. Survivors include three daughters, Judith Robison, Jeanette Bell (Aaron), and Cathy Flowers (Ralph); five sons, Byron Bruner (Mary), Larry Bruner, Gary Bruner, Winston Bruner (Kelly), and Randy Bruner; twenty-two grandchildren, Tonia Johnson (Joe), Lavonda Bell (Steve), Kay Childree (Randy), Angie Heath (Todd), Paul Bell (Dana), Robin Bell (Donna), Brooke Hughes (Lynn), Celeste Senn (Justin), Todd Flowers (Danyula), Amy Flowers, Jerrie De'Niece Morales (Tony), Lisa Bruner, Barry Clark (Karen), Shawn Bruner, LaDonna Finney, Wesley Bruner (Rachel), Tracey Chamberlin (Tony), Brandy Brown (Sydney), Jennifer Bruner, Matthew Bruner, Rick Robison (Cheri), William D. Robison (Mary); one sister, Hazel Free; two brothers, Roy Leatherwood and Max Leatherwood (Angela); a special sister-in-law, Kathleen Leatherwood. Thirty-three great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Bell, Robin Bell, Todd Flowers, Wesley Bruner, Matthew Bruner, and Brandon Williams.
