OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Mrs. Merita Diane Hall Barefoot, 60, of Dothan, died early Saturday morning, September 6, 2014, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, September 8, 2014, from Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan with Reverend Jim Tate and Reverend Ernest O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. and Monday at Memphis Baptist Church from 12:00 Noon until service time.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Wilcox, Clay Grace, Scotty Barefoot, Bart Barefoot, Gary Yarbrough, and Michael Yarbrough.
Mrs. Barefoot was born September 7, 1953 in Dothan, Houston County to Eugene and Carolyn Battles Hall. She was a 1971 graduate of Cottonwood High School and had worked as a bookkeeper for 21 years in the office of Richmond C. McClintock, Jr., M. D. Merita was blessed, loved, and supported by a very large family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bud and Parlee Battles, Grady and Lorena Hall; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Matred Barefoot.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Barefoot; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Haston Jenkins; one son, Daniel Hall Barefoot; her parents, Eugene and Carolyn Battles Hall;
two grandchildren, Paxton Grady Jenkins and Meredith Grace Jenkins; special children, Rudy, Ollie, Loki, and Luci Lu Barefoot; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Howard Holland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Terrell and Diane Barefoot, Larry and Joann Barefoot; aunts and uncles, Rudine Howell, Frances Ingram, Christine Battles, Mildred Battles, Vermell Sheppard, Nadine Thames, Edward (Dot) Hall, Priscilla Hall, Damon (Debbie) Hall, Coy Lee (Rose) Hall; nieces and nephews, Heather (Mark) Wilcox and Shelli, Holli (Clay) Grace, Sheldon and Raylee, Scotty (Cyndi) Barefoot, Stetson and Quincey, Rusty Barefoot and Rustyn, Bebe (Bill) Lloyd, Nicki (Matt) Hamm and Kye, Bart Barefoot and Shelby, Wendy (Tony) Reynolds, T. J. and Hunter; special cousin, Wanda (Jerry) Williams, who loved, supported and encouraged her daily. She is also survived by 54 first cousins, their spouses and children.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rafael Mayor and his staff, Dr. Richmond C. McClintock, Jr., Dr. Roddy Cook, and her BlueCross/BlueShield Support Nurse, Mrs. Debbie Hill; and a VERY special thank you to the loving staff of Covenant Hospice.
