OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Mrs. Nettie Geraldine Thompson Fain, age 75, of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, October 22, 2013, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, October 25, 2013 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart and Reverend Timothy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Mrs. Fain was born July 13, 1938 in Dale County to the late Jessie Daniel Thompson and Verna Lee Brown Thompson. She was raised in the Echo Community and attended Dale County Schools. She began working with GTE at the age of nineteen and retired following thirty-five years of service. Mrs. Fain was an avid gardener and Alabama football fan. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class, she worked with Vacation Bible School, and fellowship hall hostess. Mrs. Fain was a member of the American Business Women Association, Dale County Democratic Club, and CWA Union Member of Local 3972. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marcus Thompson and George Thompson; and one son-in-law, Philip Williams.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, James E. Fain of Ozark; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra and Jeff Peters, and Pam Williams all of Ozark; four grandchildren, Jessica Peters, Jacob Peters, and Heather Williams all of Ozark; Justin Williams and wife Gwen Williams of Fort Bragg, NC; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha Thompson Faulk and Joseph (Buddy) Faulk of Ozark; and one brother, Jesse M. Thompson of Oxford, AL. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
