Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL
Mrs. Suzan Agnes Stokes Smith, 82, of Ozark, died Friday, January 13, 2017.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Mrs. Smith was born July 7, 1934 in Laurel Hill, Florida to the late Samuel Aulton Stokes and Laura Ines Patterson Stokes. She traveled to many different places around the world with her husband while he was serving in the United States Army. She was a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy and The Order of The Eastern Star. Mrs. Smith was a long-time member and officer of The Non-Commissioned Officers Women’s Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald Linus Smith; one daughter, Sherry Marie Smith; one son, Randolph Duane Chandler; and one son-in-law, Ira Dickerson.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Smith of Ozark, Alabama, Deb (Wes) Cull of Tampa, Florida, and Julie Burns of New London, Iowa; one son, Douglas Charles Smith of Milton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Christine (Kenneth) Bearrentine, Scott (Ronnell) Dickerson, Dustin (Meredith) Chase, Brandon (Miranda) Goss, Austen Goss, Amy Cull (Rob) Phillips, Natalie Cull (Michael) Moncrief; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; five brothers, Ed Stokes, Earl L. Stokes, Joe Stokes, John Stokes, and Robert Stokes all of southeast Florida.
