OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
Mrs. Thelma Wood Baldwin, age 101, of Ozark, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Forrest Weekley and Mr. Jason Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday in the church from 1:30 P. M. until service time. Mrs. Baldwin was born June 7, 1911 in Dale County to the late Samuel Augusta Wood and Epsie Louvinia Mims Wood. She lived in the Ward Bridge Community and then moved to Grimes prior to moving to her present home. In school she was always interested in 4-H programs and later enjoyed crafting, quilting and gardening. She worked as a beautician for a number of years in the 1930’s. Mrs. Baldwin married her late husband, Carlie Walton Baldwin in 1941, and had been a member of Bethel United Methodist Church since the 1950’s. She was a member of the United Daughters of The Confederacy, Stone Wall Jackson Chapter. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrle Butler and Alma Dean; and four brothers, Sam Wood, Louie Frank Wood, J. D. Wood, and Bob L. Wood. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Barbara Baldwin of Echo; a special niece, Peggy Newman; three grandchildren, Charlotte Foote (Cheyenne), Carlton Baldwin (Sonya), and Christopher Baldwin (Crissy); eight great grandchildren, Layton Foote, Sammy Foote, Mason Foote, Anna Baldwin, Grey Baldwin, Wyatt Crawford, Samantha Irby, and Lillian Rose Baldwin. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
