OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK ~ 334‑774‑5348
SGT (United States Army) Ira Lavastas Dickerson, 64, of Ozark, passed due to a long illness on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, March 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The Wiregrass Patriot Guard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 A. M. until service time. Mr. Dickerson was born February 3, 1951 in Collins, Mississippi to the late Charles Ray Dickerson, Sr. and Virginia Welane Lott Dickerson. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served as a Medic and received the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Dickerson. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Kenneth Bearrentine of Ariton; one son, Scott Dickerson of Ozark; six grandchildren, William and Edward Crumbley of Ozark, Joshua King of Ozark, Scott Jr. and Harley Dickerson of Ozark and Cheyenne Cook of Skipperville; one great grandson, Kyson Jones of Ozark; the Mother of his children, Donna Smith of Ozark; and six brothers, Charles Jr., Johnnie, Darrell, Douglas, Jessie and Alex Dickerson, all of Petal, Mississippi.
