Sgt. Morrell Key, U. S. Army, Retired, 86, of Ozark, died Sunday morning, March 17, 2013, in the Bill Nichols Veterans Home in Alexander City, Alabama. A private memorial service for Mr. Key will be held at a later date. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark will be handling the arrangements. Sgt. Key was born October 10, 1926 in Clio, Alabama to the late Porter Key and Dovie Segars Key. He served in the United States Army during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War for twenty-two years, retiring in 1968. Following his military retirement, he was an Instructor with the JROTC at Carroll High School for ten years, and he served as Principal at Ozark Christian School. He was a gentle, kind, and loving husband, father, and Paw-Paw. He always put God and his family first. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lura Lee Griggs Key of Ozark; one daughter, Teresa Lura Weldon of Ozark; one grandson, Zachary Morrell Weldon of Ozark; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Versie Aycox of Welford, Texas, Jewell Miller of Ozark, and Jenn and David Calahan of Belton, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oneyth Ministry, First Assembly of God Church, 170 Country Club Drive, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
