O’Dell Stanphill, 93, formerly of Enterprise, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.


Funeral services with full military honors will be at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 24, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Reverend Ben Bowden officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.


Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org). 


Mr. Stanphill was born December 24, 1921 in Texas to the late Finess and Pearl Stanphill.  He retired from a career as a Captain in the United States Army, during which time he was a prisoner of war for 14 months.  He later retired as a Civil Service test pilot.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Enterprise.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Stanphill of Enterprise, AL, 2 daughters: Linda Ruggless (Jerry) of Crawfordville, FL and Barbara Stanphill of Woodville, FL; step-son, Danny Brannon (Jeanine) of North Palm Beach, FL; step-daughter, Marilyn Pittman (John) of Enterprise, AL; the mother of his children, Hazel Stanphill of Woodville, FL; brother, Roy Stanphill of Conroe, TX; sister, Merle Scaief of Crystal City, TX; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
