Oid Ogburn Beckham of Samson passed away at her residence on Monday, June 9, 2014.  She was 87.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Samson with Rev. Sam Totten officiating.  Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. 


Mrs. Beckham was born in Samson, Ala. on September 14, 1926 to the late John Thomas and Vivian Wilson Ogburn.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Samson.  Mrs. Beckham retired from the Geneva County Board of Education where she worked for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James H. Beckham, Sr.; and her sister, Patricia Shoffner.


She is survived by two sons, James H. “Sonny” Beckham, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Seagrove Beach, Fla. and John Beckham and wife, Alayna of Samson; two grandchildren, Karen Leigh Beckham of Dothan and Daniel Scott Beckham of Seagrove Beach, Fla.; brother, John Ogburn, Jr. and wife, Annette of Niceville, Fla.  Mrs. Beckham was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
