Mr. Oliver Dee Crews of Panama City Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was 93. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Elbert Smith officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Samson on Monday, September 2, 2013 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Crews was born in Geneva County, AL on October 11, 1919 to the late Willie Lee and Ada Bell Holley Crews. Mr. Crews was a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in agriculture. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Patton’s army. When he returned from the war, Mr. Crews worked in Mexico in the research of hoof and mouth disease. His love of flowers led him to become a florist until his retirement. He was a member of the Seagrove Baptist Church, Panama City Beach, FL.
He is survived by one sister, Katie Crews of Samson; one brother, Marcus Fox Crews (Nome) of Samson; several nieces and nephews.
