Omega Williams Chamblee
Omega Williams Chamblee, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Wesley Manor Retirement Center. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Christian Home Church of Christ with Dr. Mark Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charla Casey, 1535 Gritney Rd., Daleville, AL 36322. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center.
Mrs. Chamblee was born December 6, 1924 in Wicksburg, Alabama. She lived the early years of her life there and attended Wicksburg High School. She retired after 25 years from the United States Army Civil Service. Mrs. Chamblee enjoyed sewing and needlework. She was a devoted member of Christian Home Church of Christ in Wicksburg.
She is predeceased in death by her parents, James F. and Cora Brannon Williams; her brother, Bill Williams; a sister, Era Mae Casey; and a daughter, Carole McVey.
Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Bond of Wicksburg, AL; two daughters, Charla Casey of Clayhatchee, AL and Nancy Chamblee of Bonifay, FL; four grandchildren, Megan Gandy of Savannah, GA, Robin Casey of Tampa, FL, Lynn Casey (and husband, David Diehl) of LaGrange, GA, and Michael Gilley of Duluth, GA; and three great-grandchildren.
