Opal "Granny Jean" Cureton of Headland, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at her residence. She was 88.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Raymond Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am on the day of the service.

Mrs. Cureton was born on July 30, 1929 in Capps, Alabama and lived her early years in the Newville and Headland area. She resided in Dothan most of her life and was employed with Steven Smith IGA, Dothan Hosiery Mill and Bishop Cleaners. She was always busy and a very hard worker and constantly found something that needed to be done. Mrs. Cureton loved yard work and enjoyed weeding and pulling grass. She was preceded in death by her sons, Mitchell Dwain Cureton, Michael Joe Cureton and Kirby Britt Cureton.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Cureton; her daughter, Jeannie (Kevin) Hamilton; her sister, Helen Wright; her step-sons, Clint Chapman and Scott Chapman; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
