Orbie DeVane Jr.

Born on January 21, 1950 in Dothan, AL, Orbie lived in the Rehobeth community most of his life. A graduate of Dothan High School, Orbie worked for GTE for 38 years. In September of 1970, Orbie met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Ann Odom whom he married on February 12,1971. Living in Rehobeth, their family grew to include three children, Steve, Emily and Jason. Orbie and Pat instilled the values of older days and loved raising their kids in the country.

Orbie and Pat’s family grew to include In-Laws, Grand Kids and Great Grand Kids all of whom he adored. Orbie loved everything outdoors and all things antique. He would often be heard saying he was born in the wrong era as his love of primitive antiques would always bring a smile to his face as he shared his knowledge with others.

Orbie lived his final years on Lake Eufaula with Pat and their cats Tautie and Skeeter. On August 28 Orbie won his short-lived battle with cancer as he was surrounded by his family at his home on the lake. He is now watching over his family from Heaven, enjoying all the laughter and stories being told.

Orbie is survived by his wife of Fifty Years Patricia Odom DeVane, their three kids: Steve (Tammy) DeVane, Emily (Greg) Clemons and Jason (Patricia) DeVane, Seven Grandkids, Eleven Great Grandkids and a multitude of family and friends.

All who knew Orbie knows he was a man of old school values and a man who truly loved and longed for simpler times. To honor his wishes there will be a small immediate family funeral with a celebration of life for friends and family at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all the Family and Friends who have reached out with love and support during this time. The family also gives special thanks to Angie Jones with Kindred Hospice for her timely service and love shown.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for memorial donations be made to The Alabama Kidney Foundation.
