DOTHAN. . .Orvis G. Hamm, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018, at his home. He was 85.


     Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 19, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Bill Brown officiating. Entombment will follow in the Gardens of Memory mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the chapel.


     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, 1951 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL 36303 or to a favorite charity.


     Mr. Hamm was born and reared in Henry County, near the Tumbleton Community, son of the late Albert Victor Ham and Addie Lou Jones Ham. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hamm lived in Clayton thirty-three years and also lived in Headland before moving to Dothan in 2004. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church. Mr. Hamm was retired from Alabama Power Company in the Clayton office as Manager. He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Day and a brother, Dwain Ham.


     Surviving relatives include his wife, Faye Skeen Hamm; a daughter, Wanda Hamm, Montgomery; a son, Garry Hamm (Grace Miller), Dothan; two sisters, Juliette Ham White, and Sybil Ham Peak (Marvin), all of Cuthbert, GA; a brother, Truett Ham, (Mary), Capps Community; a sister-in-law, Patricia Ham, Ozark; two grandchildren, Tori Hamm and Amber Hamm; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Skeen family.
