Othel Felix Adams, of Dothan, formerly of Louisville, passed away July 23, 2014 at the age of 91.
Born February 27, 1923 in Texasville to the late Odie Reid and Alma Frances Scroggins Adams, Mr. Adams was the oldest of four children. Mr. Adams served his country during World War II in the Army serving in Hawaii, the Philippine Islands and Okinawa as a radar technician. Upon leaving the Army, Mr. Adams moved back to Barbour County where he met and later married Frances Louise McWhorter of Clayton. In the early 1960s, Mr. Adams made a career change moving to the public sector as an educator, where he spent more than 16 years with the Fairfax County, Virginia Public School System until his retirement in 1978.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Louise McWhorter Adams and two brothers.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Adams, Key West, FL; a sister, Merle Hancock; a special friend, Opal Purvis and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 27, 2014 from First Baptist Church of Dothan with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery in Louisville, Alabama with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time at First Baptist Church.
