DOTHAN…Ouida Lingo Newberry, a resident of Dothan, died Monday morning, June 20, 2016, in Covenant Hospice at Bay Medical Center, Panama City, Florida. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in the Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church, in Grimes, with Dr. Max McKinney and Pastors Benny and Bart Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery, Hartford Highway, Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremation is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 West 19th Street, Panama City, Florida 32405 or Autism Society of Alabama, 4217 Dolly Ridge Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35243.
Mrs. Newberry, daughter of the late Eddie T. “Babe” Lingo and Mary Mathison Lingo, was born in Henry County, near Newville. She was a 1947 graduate of Midland City High School and lived in Dothan most of her lifetime. Mrs. Newberry was formerly employed by S.H. Kress & Co. of Dothan and other local retail establishments. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church in Grimes where she taught the Young Ladies and Primary Sunday School Classes, Children’s Church and the Missionettes. Mrs. Newberry was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Huey Newberry, a sister, Rose Lingo, and three brothers, Roy Lingo, Ralph Lingo and Ray Lingo.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Lisa Newberry Bryant (Alan), Lynn Haven, FL; two grandchildren, Jarrett and Jacob Bryant; several nieces and nephews.
