Owen Burton Pinkard, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in a local hospital. He was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm.
Mr. Pinkard was born on November 10, 1927 in Madison, FL and lived there the early years of his life. He joined the US Army, serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Mr. Pinkard was a Purple Heart recipient and retired from the military in 1970. Following his military career, Mr. Pinkard became a meat cutter and was employed with Winn Dixie and later with Holiday Inn as a chef. He enjoyed cooking and loved to bake for his family and friends. Mr. Pinkard moved to Dothan in the early 1990’s and was a member of Harvest Church.
Mr. Pinkard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Pinkard.
Survivors include his daughter, Melonee (Ronny) Alexander; his 2 grandchildren, Robbie and Chuckey; his brothers, Alfred Pinkard, Raymond Pinkard, and Tom Pinkard; his sister, Cathline; and several nieces and nephews.
