MIDLAND CITY, AL….Pastor Bennie James Corbin, a resident of Midland City, died Monday morning, November 21, 2011, at his home. He was 77.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James E. Ward, Jr., Pastor Dave Fernandez and Reverend Ray Stinson. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery in Midland City. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Word Fellowship, P.O. Box 204, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Pastor Corbin was born in Dale County, near Midland City and moved to Phenix City as a child with his family. He was a graduate of Midland City High School and attended Wallace Technical College. Pastor Corbin served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He lived in Port St. Joe, Florida before moving to the Sylvan Grove community of Dale County in 1968. Pastor Corbin retired as the owner and operator of Wiregrass Welding Service of Midland City. In earlier years, he was employed as a certified welder with St. Joe Paper Company in Cedar Springs, Georgia.
Pastor Corbin was a member of Shiloh Word Fellowship near Clopton. He rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1973 and served Good Tidings Assembly of God near Clopton, AL and First Assembly of God in Midland City, AL as its Pastor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Watson Corbin, a son, Bennie Michael Corbin, his parents, James Morris Corbin and Naomi Kennedy Corbin and also his step-mother, Mattie Lee Corbin.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Barbara Davis and husband, Kenneth, Midland City; Carol Zekas and husband, Mark, Southport, FL. and Ann Pitts, Midland City; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Corbin, Georgetown, GA; two half sisters, Melba Beasley, Midland City; Carol Sue Senn and husband, Nelson, Ariton, AL; a brother, Donnie Royce Corbin and wife, Miriam, Albany, GA; half brother, Max Corbin and wife, Sue, Newton, AL; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be J.T. Woods, Pat Johnson, Mark Murphy, Lynn Geogoutt, Jimmy Scott, Joe Armstrong and Javier Pitts.
