ECHO COMMUNITY. . .Pastor Betty Jenkins Bell, a resident of the Echo Community of Dale County, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 28, 2024, in the Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. She was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2024, in the Omega Holiness Church with Pastor Jamie Hattaway, Reverend Jerome Weed and Reverend Jimmy McClain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Omega Holiness Church, 268 North County Road 67, Ozark, AL 36360.
Pastor Bell was born and reared in Dale County, near Midland City, daughter of the late William Otto Jenkins and Frances Coner Adkins Jenkins. She lived in Midland City thirty years before moving to the Echo Community in 1978. Pastor Bell was a member of Omega Holiness Church. She founded Omega Holiness Church and served as Pastor and Chairman of the Board of Directors. In earlier years, Pastor Bell founded and served as Pastor of First Assembly of God of Headland and First Assembly of God of Midland City. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Weed, Lucille Screws and Nell Raley and a brother, William Thomas Jenkins.
Surviving relatives include her son, Greg Bell, Mt. Pisgah Community, near Echo; a grandson, Trapper Bell (Emily Strickland), and two brothers, James Earl Jenkins, Bertha Community; and Bill Jenkins, Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Simmons, Jeff Bell, Jeremy Simmons, Seth Simmons, Bradon Simmons and Colby Bridges.
