Patricia Ann Elliot

Patricia Ann Elliot, known affectionately by friends and family as Ann, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at her home in Newville, Alabama, after an extended illness. Born on July 8, 1945, in Columbia, Alabama, Ann's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a spirited sense of adventure.

Ann spent her early years in Orlovista, Florida, where she often spoke of the cherished memories made with her siblings. She carried the warmth of those formative years throughout her life, infusing it into every relationship and endeavor. Ann's educational journey began in the heart of Columbia and continued to be a cornerstone of her values and work ethic.

Her professional life was marked by commitment and excellence. Ann was a long-time employee of Van Heusen, and later, she brought her talents to Dollar General as a dedicated manager. Her work ethic was unparalleled, but it was her warmth and generosity that left a lasting impression on her colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ann's personal interests painted a picture of a woman who embraced life wholeheartedly. She had a keen eye for treasures and could often be found at auctions, delighting in the thrill of buying and selling unique glassware. Ann's love for dancing was well-known, and she could frequently be out twirling on the dance floor at the local VFW. Even in retirement, she remained active and social, meeting friends at Hardee's in Headland to share stories and laughter. Ann was an avid Alabama Football fan, she loved gameday and enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves as well.

However, it was her role as a matriarch that truly defined Ann. Her love for her family was the most brilliant jewel in her crown. She is survived by her son, Jeff Watkins and his wife Nicole; her grandchildren, Christopher Watkins, Tyler Watkins, Ashlyn Watkins, and Jadie Shaw; and four great-grandchildren, Reese Watkins, Aiden Shaw, Jaxon Watkins, and Adalyn Haddan, who brought her immeasurable joy. Her brother, Eugene (Sheila) Elmore and her sisters, Faye (Andy) Sayyah and Doris Pendergast will also cherish her memories. Ann's legacy of love continues through them. She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Watkins, and her granddaughter, Brittany Watkins, both of whom she held dear in her heart.

Ann was the embodiment of love, generosity, and kindness. Her presence was a comforting balm to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She approached life with a gentle strength and an open heart, always willing to lend a hand or share a smile. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thanks to Tina with Gentiva Hospice for all of her love and support during their time of need.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her influence will continue to resonate. Ann Elliot's story is one of unwavering love and the enduring power of family. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who knew her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in knowing that her legacy of kindness will ripple through generations to come.
