We gather here today to celebrate the life and legacy of a remarkable soul, Patricia Ann Salinas, who was called to her eternal rest on May 3, 2024, after a valiant battle with an extended illness. Born on January 20, 1965, in the warm embrace of Valdosta, Georgia, Patricia was a beacon of love and care throughout her 59 years on this Earth, until her peaceful passing in Dothan, Alabama.
Patricia, a daughter of the South, was a spirited woman whose love knew no bounds. She was preceded in her journey to glory by her beloved parents, Wyatt Dever Harvey and Judy Pearl Lewis. Her memory is cherished and will be carried on by her only daughter, Jessica Salinas, and son-in-law, Eran Holland, who were the apple of her eye. Her sisters, Lizzie Toth and April Prado, and her brothers, Daniel Taylor, John Toth, and Dever Harvey, will forever hold her in their hearts. Patricia’s joy was multiplied through her nieces and nephews—Emily Prado, Eliza Rodriguez, Bella McCartney, Ashley White, Eric Prado, Angel Rodriguez, and Troy White—who saw her as a second mother. Her brother-in-law, Arturo Rodriguez, and a host of special friends, including Michael and Terry Holland, Mary Casey, Nease Jackson, Icylene Pearce, Mary Fairy, and Coney Underwood, are testament to the vast community she built with love and kindness.
Patricia was a mother not only to her own child but to all who crossed her path. Her home was a sanctuary where no one left hungry, and her hands were ever extended with her last plate of food to anyone in need. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, blooming with the red roses she adored and the vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and spinach—that she cultivated with care. In moments of nervousness, she found solace in imagining herself walking in a field of flowers with Jesus, a testament to her unwavering faith.
Her culinary skills were legendary, and her kitchen was the heart of her home, where the aroma of lovingly prepared meals welcomed all. Patricia’s service to her community extended beyond her home as a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant for 22 years. She cared for the sick with a tender heart, embodying the love and compassion of the Savior she followed.
A devout member of Allen Temple Church of God in Christ, Patricia’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her life was a sermon of love, her actions a hymn of generosity. The color purple, as regal and vibrant as her spirit, was her favorite, and a cold Pepsi was her simple pleasure.
Patricia Ann Salinas was the embodiment of a life well-lived, marked by spirited joy, boundless love, and unwavering kindness. As we bid her farewell, let us not dwell in the valley of sorrow but rejoice in the knowledge that she is now walking in the eternal field of flowers she so often envisioned, hand in hand with her Lord and Savior.
We are comforted by the belief that her legacy will continue to bloom in the lives she touched. Her spirit, as vibrant as the purple hues she loved, will forever be woven into the tapestry of our memories. Let us honor her memory by living as she did—with open hearts, open hands, and an unshakable faith.
As we commit Patricia Ann Salinas to the Lord’s keeping, we are reminded that in His garden, she will forever be tending to the roses, her laughter a melody among the celestial chorus. Rest well, dear Patricia, until we meet again on that beautiful shore.
