Patricia Ellen Parker Kines, a long-time resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at her home following an extended battle with cancer. She was 82 and an active member of Grandview Baptist Church.

A celebration of her amazing life will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 9:45, prior to the service.

Mrs. Kines was born on January 6, 1942. She spent her early years growing up in Perry, Lake Joy, and Americus, Georgia, and graduated from Americas High School. She married Jack Kines and moved to Dothan in 1960. She worked for Aetna Finance, was the bookkeeper for SAADS Jewelers, and enjoyed serving children as a lunchroom worker at Grandview Elementary School.

In answering the call to missions that Pat felt as a child, she became the secretary, and later the director of church development, at The Columbia Baptist Association, where she served the churches of our area for over 26 years.

Patricia Kines loved Jesus and dedicated her life to telling others how they could receive Salvation. She volunteered for countless organizations to spread the gospel, worked with children’s groups, and mentored young adults. She loved to paint and share her artwork. She also used her incredible ability to grow flowers to share God’s love and be a constant encourager. She was an avid fan of any Crimson Tide Sport.

Pat, Ging Ging, PPK, and Mrs. Kines loved Jesus, her family, her friends, and her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack Kines; her parents, Robert Lee and Willie Mae (Martin) Parker; and her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria (Parker) and Clint Lindsey, of Austell, GA.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Eldridge (Brian) of Dothan; three granddaughters, Olivia Grace Eldridge Owens (Breck) of Arkadelphia, AR, Faith Ellen Eldridge, and Maybri Kines Eldridge of Dothan; two sisters, Betty Ethridge of Milner, GA, and Barbara Waterstradt (Greg) of Columbia, SC; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of those who claimed her as family.

The family would like to thank the kind and thoughtful nurses and employees of Gentiva Hospice for the love and special care they provided our entire family during Pat’s last days at home. We would also like to recognize the wonderful ER staff at Southeast Health for their competence and heartfelt care during her recent visit. We cannot adequately express our gratitude to Dr. Valasareddi and Dr. Adkinson for their unwavering patience, support, and care during her 6-year fight with cancer. They earned her trust and we are forever thankful. We would also like to thank everyone who showed her love and support the past several months with porch deliveries, company at doctor’s appointments, phone calls, and visits. She felt so loved by everyone around her and we are incredibly grateful.

Glover Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. (334) 699-3888. Please sign the guestbook online at www.gloverfuneral.com
