ABBEVILLE. . .Patricia Riley Jones, a resident of Abbeville, went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Saturday morning, August 3, 2024, at her home. She was 77.


            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 4, 2024, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend George Bryan and Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VOCAL, (Victims of Crime and Leniency), P.O. Box 4449, Montgomery, AL 36103.


            Patricia Jones was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Calvin W. Riley and Ella Foy Cook Riley. She was a 1965 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Wallace Community College. Patricia was employed in the Engineering and Budget Departments at Ft. Rucker for thirty years before retiring in 1995. Shortly after the tragic death of her mother in 1990, she founded the Southeast VOCAL Chapter in 1991 which covers the Wiregrass area. Patricia traveled over the state supporting victims and their families. She spent hundreds of hours in Montgomery lobbying for bills to be passed in support of victims and their families and also protesting paroles of convicted felons. Patricia worked closely with local district attorneys, Doug Valeska and Pat Jones.


            As a child and young adult, Patricia and her family were active members of Good Tidings Assembly of God. She formerly attended Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Abbeville. Patricia has been attending Judson Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed working with the children and was also a member of the church choir. She spread God’s love everywhere she went through her F.R.O.G. Ministry (Fully Rely On God). Patricia was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Lee Riley and John Malcolm Riley.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Gary L. Jones; two daughters, Kimberly Jones Leverette (Bart Hakenewert), Dothan; and Krisiti Jones Wiggins (Sammy), Eufaula; three brothers, Don Riley (Linda), Phenix City; Bobby Riley (Cathy), Dothan; and Wayne Riley (Brenda), Abbeville; granddaughters, Kirstyn Wiggins Yountz (Blake), Sydney Wiggins and Mae Hakenewert; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tony Riley, Jerry Riley, Glen Riley, Jeff Riley, John Riley, Jr. and Chad King.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to First Choice Hospice including, Shulunda, Roxanne, April, Bryan, Amanda, Michelle and Tonya and Patricia’s sitter, Terry Coxwell and Calvary Baptist Church Bread of Life.
