Patsy Holmes Hooper

“Many women have done wonderful things, but you’ve outclassed them all!”  Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.  The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the fear of God.  Give her everything she deserves!  Festoon her life with praises.  Proverbs 31: 29-31.

Patsy Holmes Hooper went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2019.  She was born in Henry County on March 28, 1930, to the late Marvin and Elma Blackmon Holmes.  A life-long resident of Dothan, Patsy was a hard-working, determined individual who sacrificed much for her children and family.  She was a member of Memphis Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until confined to resident care at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle.

As a secretary/bookkeeper, Patsy began her work career at Dothan Cigar and Candy Company in the 1950’s and retired at the age of 81 as a medical records clerk at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Danny Hooper (Dianne), daughter Gail Hooper Snoddy (Bill), five grandchildren, Keith Hooper, Chris Hooper (Becca), Troy Snoddy, Jessica Fengfish (Ross), Allison Rorex (Robert). She was also blessed with six great grandchildren: Taylor Hooper, Ansley Hooper, Anna Fengfish, Wyatt Fengfish, Clark Rorex and Brooke Rorex.  Surviving siblings are Betty Gunter, Eddie Holmes (Era Jo), brothers-in-law J.L. Holmes, and Nelson Hooper.  Patsy was predeceased in death by her husband, Joe Hooper, Jr, a brother, Marvette Holmes, two sisters, Geraldine Sallas and Carleene Hughes, and step mother Minnie Bell Holmes.

Reverends Rick Glenn and Billy Rich will officiate the funeral service on Monday, July 8th, 2019 at 11 a.m., Family First Funeral Care, Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.        In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Memphis Baptist Church Building Fund in memory  of    Patsy Hooper.
