Paul Durwood Everett passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was 85 years old.

A celebration of life service with rendering of military honors will be held 4 pm on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home with Larry Everett officiating.

Paul was born on September 19, 1937 to the late JB and Mamie Everett. After leaving the Air Force in May of 1959, the majority of Paul’s career was spent in transportation. Working with AAA Cooper at the time, he retired at the age of 62, at which time he and his wife Anne moved to Panama City Beach where they enjoyed 22 years. During that time, Paul loved to fish in the lake behind the house and feed his pet blue heron, which would tap on the window if he didn’t feed it on time. They returned to Dothan in May of this year. During his career, Paul was always known as a hard worker with an impeccable work ethic. He appreciated all of his customers, and he enjoyed entertaining them with jokes. His sales partner said Paul always had a good day with a positive attitude. He did not meet a stranger, greeted everyone with a smile and a handshake. Paul always believed in being honest with his customers. To work out any frustration at work, he took a walk on the dock and all was well. When he would go home for the day, his family says he left work at the front door.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, JB and Mamie Everett; and his siblings, Ruby Nell Parks, Charlie Wade Everett, and Donald Gene Everett.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne M Everett; his children, Steve Everett, Dawn Everett, Greg (Patty) Everett, and Dean (Donna) Everett; his grandchildren, Faith Grey, Bailey Everett, Brooke Everett, Jonathan Everett, Denna Everett, Kaleb Everett, Audrey Everett, Noah Everett, Louise Everett; Several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Kenneth (Linda) Everett, Larry ( Janice) Everett, Terry (Linda) Everett, Randall Everett, Rodney (Lucy) Everett, and Sue (Ronald) Hughes; and a host of extended family members and friends.
