Paul Harold Brannon

Paul Harold Brannon, known affectionately as Paul to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, after an extended illness. Born on May 28, 1942, in Hartford, Alabama, Paul's journey through life was characterized by his loving nature, selflessness, and kindness.

Paul spent his formative years in Hartford, where he developed a strong foundation that would guide him throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and commitment.

After his service, Paul embarked on a successful career with Exide Batteries, where he rose to the position of Regional Manager. It was during his time in Upstate New York that he met the love of his life, Virginia F. "Ginger" Brannon. Their union was blessed with 47 years of unwavering partnership and mutual adoration.

Together, Paul and Ginger raised a loving family, including sons Christopher (Julie) Brannon, Jeffery (Kimberly) Myers, and Andrew Myers, and daughters Kimberly Meehn and Cynthia. Paul's role as a father was one of his greatest joys, and he instilled in his children the values of love and respect. He was a doting grandfather to Kayla Gardner of New York, Kiersten Newtoff of Maryland, Alex Meyers of New York, Adam Myers of Connecticut, and Aaron Myers (United States Army) currently serving in Iraq, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Paul's family circle extended to his siblings, who shared in the richness of his life: brothers Earl (Bobbie Jean) Brannon and Roger (Linda) Brannon, and sisters Mary Birdsong, Janice (Fred) Peterson, and Martha (Pat) Pattillo. His life was further enriched by the presence of several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Pillie and Isavell Benefield Brannon, and his brother, Bobby Ray Brannon, whom he held in fond remembrance.

Paul was a big, fun-loving guy who found contentment in the simple pleasures of life. His presence was a source of comfort and warmth to those around him, and he lived his life with a generous spirit. As a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Dothan, Paul's faith was a testament to his belief in compassion and service to others. Paul loved the beach! We spent 10 years as “snowbirds”, leaving the cold North for the warmth and beauty of Panama City Beach.

His was a life well-lived, marked by an unwavering devotion to his wife and family. Paul's legacy is one of enduring love, a beacon for those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and service but also for the way he made others feel: valued, cherished, and loved.

Paul's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the lives of his family and friends. We take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his gentle soul and generous heart.
