PAULETTE MARTIN RILEY
ABBEVILLE. . .Paulette Martin Riley, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday night, October 6, 2016, at her home. She was 69.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2016, in the Abbeville United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Greene and John S. Riley officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial services in the church family life center. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abbeville United Methodist Church “Red Bird Mission” or “Sav-A-Life”. P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL 36310.
A native of Troy, Alabama, Paulette received a B.S. Degree in Art Education from Troy University and a Master’s Degree from Auburn University in Montgomery. An accomplished artist, she retired from the Montgomery Public School System where she taught Art at Robert E. Lee High School and Carver High School in the Magnet Program. Paulette lived in Montgomery from 1969 until 2003 and also lived in Dothan before moving to Abbeville in 2007. She was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church. Paulette was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Dorsey Martin, her mother, Pauline Beamon Smith, and her husband, Wesley Blacklidge “Buddy” Riley, Jr.
Surviving relatives include a brother, Joe Rhoades (Jane), Webb, AL; a brother-in-law, John S. Riley, Abbeville; nieces, Angela Wilkinson (Randy), Brenda Brasington (Adam), Jennifer Riley, Julie Taylor and Joy Cannis (Chris); several great-nieces and great-nephews.
