PEGGY GRIGGS WALKER
BLUE SPRINGS. . .Peggy Griggs Walker, a resident of Barbour County, between Blue Springs and Texasville, died Sunday morning, February 21, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Tom Anderson and Reverend Bob Cox officiating and a eulogy to be given by a son, Michael Walker. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, “In Memory of Peggy Walker”, c/o Mavis Carroll, 278 Mavis Carroll Road, Clopton, AL 36317.
Mrs. Walker was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late Charles Edward Griggs and Myrtle Blalock Griggs. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended nursing school at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and Wallace Community College in Dothan. Mrs. Walker was retired as a Medical Transcriptionist from Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. She was a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Griggs, II.
Surviving relatives include her husband, John Lynn Walker; two sons, Michael Walker and Stormy Walker, both of Woodstock, GA; two grandchildren, Greg Walker (Leslie), and Sada Maciel (Ellias); sisters-in-law, Mavis Carroll and Debbie Volf (Jerry).
Serving as active pallbearers will be Greg Walker, Henry Smith, Terry Bell, Gil Carroll, Shane Volf and Blake Volf.
