Peggy O’Neil Strickland, a resident of Cottonwood, AL, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. She was 82 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. Strickland was born on April 3, 1939 in Dothan, Alabama and has lived in the Wiregrass area all of her life. In her earlier years, she was a homemaker, raising her 3 children. Mrs. Strickland was later employed with Globe Motors as an inspector until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, and fishing. Mrs. Strickland also loved her church, Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, where she was a longtime member.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Hulon Earl Strickland and by her parents, Pink H. Hoffman and Willie Foy Dunn; and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Charles Edward (Sharon) McCall, Peggy Jean (Kevin) Frost, and Kenneth Michael (Martha) McCall; her grandchildren, Scott (Jamie) Smith, Adam Smith, Elliott (Darby) Smith, Elizabeth (Layo) Lowe, Kacie (Andrew) Beckworth, and Justin (Traci) Lisenby; her 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Adam Smith, Elliott Smith, Andrew Beckworth, Justin Lisenby, and Mark Hoffman.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Jonathan Ellis.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Westside Terrace and Covenant Care Hospice for their care and compassion shown to them during their time of need.
