Perry "Sonny" Wimbish went to his eternal home on March 15, 2013 at age 64 after an extended illness.
Mr. Wimbish's body has been donated to UAB for science research. There will be a private memorial service held for the family. The family will be at the home of Jackie Wimbish, 314 Southern Oak Drive, Dothan, Alabama from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday March 17.
Mr. Wimbish was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 25, 1949. Mr. Wimbish graduated from Dothan High School and was a contract employee with various nuclear plants before he became disabled. For the past several years, Mr. Wimbish looked forward to his daily visit with his friends at the Northside Waffle House. Mr. Wimbish was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama.
Mr. Wimbish was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Parents: Robert B. Wimbish, Sr. and Ammie Gunnels Akins. Sister: Judy Johnson Wright (survived by husband Roger)
Surviving relatives include his step-mother, Kathleen Wimbish; siblings, Robert B. Wimbish, Jr. (Melissa), Ann Becker, Jackie Wimbish (Pam), Robin Fleming (William), William Robert Johnson (Susan), Bruce Hilton (Sharon) Johnson, John Randall Johnson (Debbie), Gary Michael Johnson, Douglas Allen (Edie) Johnson, Kathy Falkner (Morris), Pam Sharpe (Jimmy), and many special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Children's Hospital in Birmingham will be accepted.
