Phillip Keith Martin

A celebration of Phillip's life will be held at a later date.

Phillip Keith Martin, known affectionately as "Oop" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, in his hometown of Dothan, Alabama. Born on July 3, 1965, Phillip's life was marked by his adventurous spirit, exceptional handiness, and selfless nature. His 58 years of life were filled with love, laughter, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Phillip was a proud graduate of Cottonwood High School's class of 1984, where he showcased his athletic abilities on the football field. He met and married Lisa Thomley at a young age and together, they built a life filled with mutual devotion and shared passions. Phillip's love for Auburn football was infectious, and his enthusiasm for the game brought his family and friends many memorable Saturdays cheering for the Tigers.

After high school, Phillip began working at H and H Doors, dedicating ten years to the company. His career path then led him to Georgia in 2004, where he honed his skills building trailers. It wasn't long before Phillip embarked on a new journey as a plumber apprentice. His determination and work ethic saw him rise through the ranks to become a respected journeyman plumber, a role he proudly held for many years, traveling across the south and leaving a legacy of quality craftsmanship in his wake.

Phillip's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He cherished the times he could escape to the woods for hunting or to a serene lake for fishing. These moments in nature were not just hobbies but a reflection of Phillip's appreciation for life's simple joys and the beauty of the world around him.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Phillip will remember him as an adventurous soul, always ready for the next project or challenge. His hands were rarely still, as he could fix or build almost anything. His selfless nature was apparent in the way he lived his life, always putting the needs of others before his own and extending a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Martin; his cherished daughter, Taylor Martin; his devoted mother, Sarah Ann Hodges Martin; his brother, William "Bill" Martin and his wife, Laura; his dear aunt, Linda Sewell and her husband, Billy Earl; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. His life was enriched by their love and support, and their memories of Phillip will be treasured forever. He is preceded in death by his father, William Andrew Martin, and by his brother, Donald Martin, whose memory remained close to his heart.

Phillip's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, dedication, and the joy he found in life's adventures will continue to inspire. As we say goodbye to Phillip Keith Martin, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a journey well-traveled. His spirit will remain a guiding light to all who were blessed to know him.
