LAWRENCEVILLE COMMUNITY. . .Phillips Owens “Phil” Kelley, a resident of the Lawrenceville Community, near Abbeville, died Friday morning, June 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 80.
Graveside memorial services, with Navy military honors, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 17, 2024, in the County Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Henry Fullington officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation, 265 Riverchase Parkway, East, Suite 106, Birmingham, AL 3524
Phil Kelley was a lifelong resident of the Lawrenceville Community of Henry County, son of the late Paul Kenneth Kelley and Marjorie Richards Kelley. He was a 1962 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Troy University. Phil was a member of the Lawrenceville Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Mead Corporation as a Laboratory Technician. Phil was retired as a Petty Officer 1st Class from the Navy Reserve. He also served in the Army Reserve in the Abbeville unit for seventeen years. Phil was preceded in death by a brother, Richards Kelley.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Patty Lewis Kelley; two sons, Brian Kelley (Jennifer), Lawrenceville Community; and Jason Kelley (Jennifer), Taylor, AL; grandchildren, Hannah Kelley, Benjamin Kelley, Makenzie Kelley and Spencer Kelley; brothers-in-law, Dr. Bob Lewis, Birmingham; and Bill Lewis (Dottie), Westminster, SC.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lewis, Bob Lewis, Wayne Lee, Ashley Roberts, Pete Barnes, Jeff Money, Keith Barnes, Ray Stinson and Charlie Kelley.
