Brethren, today we gather to celebrate the homegoing of a cherished daughter of Dothan, Phoenacia Almeda Blount, who was called to her eternal rest on May 23, 2024. Born on July 22 1977, in the very heart of Dothan, Alabama, Phoenacia was a beacon of love and joy throughout her 46 years on God’s green earth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Alabama Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Ernest Green officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Phoenacia, as we fondly knew her, was a woman of unwavering faith and devotion. Baptized in the year of our Lord 1993, she was a faithful member of Alabama Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, where her spirit shone bright and her presence was a blessing to all. She embodied the love of Christ, and her selfless nature was a testament to the grace she carried within.

Phoenacia was the beloved baby of her family, the glue that held them together, and the heart that kept them beating in unison. She was preceded in her journey by her parents, Johnny Blount and Susie Wiggins Blount. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her adoring sisters, Susie Thomas (John) of Dothan, AL and Le Trice Whaley (Tim) of Dothan, AL, and her brothers, Rev. Derrick Blount (Tonya) of Houston, TX, Marty Blount (Diane) of Tacoma, WA, and Rodney Blount (Lisa) of Dothan, AL, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who were touched by her loving spirit.

A proud graduate of Northview High School and George C. Wallace Community College, Phoenacia dedicated 17 years of service to Belk in merchandising, where her spirited nature brightened the lives of both colleagues and customers alike.

Phoenacia was the embodiment of love, a selfless soul who never hesitated to reach out to her kin with a warm embrace or a caring call. As the baby of the family, she was cherished by all, and her absence will be felt deeply.

Today, as we bid farewell to Phoenacia Almeda Blount, let us rejoice in the knowledge that she rests in the arms of our Lord, free from the pain of her battle with cancer, and let us carry her spirit of love and selflessness forward in our own lives. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me – John 14:1.
