BELLS CROSSROADS COMMUNITY. . .Rachel Barefield Johnson Jenkins, a resident of the Bell’s Crossroads Community of Dale County, died Tuesday morning, December 12, 2023, in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 93.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 15, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Phil Craddock and Pastor Joe Mack Creamer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell’s Crossroads Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mrs. Jenkins was a lifelong resident of the Bell’s Crossroads Community, daughter of the late James Roscoe Barefield and Evie Florella Bell Barefield. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Community Church. Mrs. Jenkins was retired from the Dale County Commission as a secretary after twenty-two years employment. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Johnson and two brothers, Jim Barefield and Frank Barefield.
Surviving relatives include her husband, James Earl Jenkins, daughters, Carol Riley (Roger), and Ginger Creamer (Joe Mack), all of Midland City; a sister, Mary Grantham, Dothan; grandchildren, Jamie Riley (Suzanne), Shelly Sapp (Shawn), Jared Riley (Amber), Joe Mack Creamer, Jr. (Jessica), Joni Dykes (Jamie), and Jereme Creamer (Malissa); sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
