A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Wednesday at 2pm in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Heart Association in Randy’s honor.

Randall "Randy" Taft, a cherished soul known for his unwavering optimism and infectious humor, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, in Dothan, AL. Born on September 21, 1954, in Montgomery, AL, Randy was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him.

Randy was a man of many talents and interests. His professional journey was diverse and fulfilling; he retired from UPS after years of dedicated service. Randy also enjoyed his time as a franchisee of Pepperidge Farms and his hands-on work in construction. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Randy will fondly remember his easygoing nature. He had a knack for making any situation brighter with his dry sense of humor and his love for Alabama football and karaoke. Randy was often the heart of gatherings, sharing laughter and creating memories that his family and friends will treasure forever.

Above all, Randy was a devoted family man. He was a great husband to his wife of 14 years, Paula Taft, and a loving father to his sons, Kip Taft (Megan), Brett Taft, Robert Broadbent (Shenia), Joseph Broadbent (Megan), Joe Watts, and Todd Watts. His role as a grandfather to Harper, Robert, Blaine, Kylie, Kaelyn, Jamison, and Addie was one he cherished deeply. The joy and wisdom he imparted to his grandchildren will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

Randy is survived by his brothers, Rick Taft (Susan) and Sam Taft, and his sister, Debbi Gordon (Doug). His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he often spoke of his pride in their accomplishments and the love he had for each of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Taft Sr. and Joyce Taft, who instilled in him the values of kindness and humor that he carried with him every day.

Known affectionately as a "Mama's boy," Randy's bond with his mother was a beautiful aspect of his character. He embraced the term with pride, and it served as a reminder of the gentle, loving nature that made him the man so many admired.

Randy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and positivity. He approached life with a heart full of joy and an unwavering sense of hope. Those who knew him would describe him as kind, optimistic, and undeniably funny. His presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the fortune to cross his path.
